The Volunteer Experience

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer!

When you volunteer with Meals on Wheels San Antonio, you are doing much more than delivering a meal! You are creating moments of personal connection and much-needed wellness checks for our seniors. Your support enables our senior neighbors to age independently and safely in the comfort of their own homes, making a significant difference in our community.

Hundreds of volunteers across San Antonio help us deliver over 4,000 meals daily to homebound individuals in our community, which equals over 6,800 clients annually! Your help also supports our AniMeals program, with volunteers delivering supplemental pet food to nearly 1,000 pets in South Central Texas.

Meal delivery sites across town are open for pickup from 11:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Click here to find a pickup site near you!

The following opportunities are available for individuals as well as corporate/community Groups:

Meal Delivery volunteers deliver care and nutrition to our community's thousands of seniors and homebound members daily while meeting their neighbors and creating lasting friendships with some of the fantastic people they help us serve.

Friendly Visitor volunteers can help those we serve to improve their physical, emotional, and mental well-being by reducing loneliness and social isolation through in-person visits, phone calls, or weekly written mail.

AniMeals volunteers help those we serve keep their furry companions fed and healthy, too! The primary opportunity for volunteers is to deliver supplemental pet food to clients on the third weekend of the month.
